General Description of Position:

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities for Hargray Communications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs overhead allocation process clearing costs to capital
  • Manages closing of projects from WIP to Fixed Assets; reviews for accuracy and completeness before making entries.
  • Records monthly depreciation expense
  • Prepares adjusting entries for customer premise equipment and inventory moving from expense to capex per policy.
  • Reconciles Balance Sheet accounts as assigned in area of responsibility.
  • Assist with Financial and Regulatory annual audits in area of responsibility as assigned and according to deadlines set.
  • Backup and assist with maintaining current property record information as needed.
  • Special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BBA in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • 3+ years in cost, fixed asset, and project accounting.
  • Telecommunications Accounting (Part32) experience a plus.
  • Technically strong with an aptitude for financial and accounting reporting systems (ERP).
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem- solving skills.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with little or no direction and great detail for accuracy within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Effectively communicates within and across departments.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
  • Excellent excel and data base skills.
  • Requires discretion regarding sensitive Company information.
  • Available to work overtime as needed.
