Intern – General Management

 

Calling all future CEOs! Looking for general management experience? Hargray is offering a 3-month hands-on general management internship where you will have the opportunity to gain insight into leading, managing and supervising a group of colleagues who operate their own market throughout the Southeast region. At the end of the internship, you will have the opportunity to further advance your skills with an available full-time position at Hargray, or you can take the valuable skills you have learned in pursuit of other career opportunities. Hargray is a rapidly growing telecommunications company with operations in FL, GA, SC, and AL.

 

The GM Intern will be responsible for supporting our leadership team in providing general management for the day-to-day responsibilities of all sales and operational aspects associated with the delivery of our services to our customers. Additionally, this position will assist with developing and delivering strategies for continual improvement in the area of service excellence, ensuring quality, on time delivery, safety, cost, and customer-focused service.

Duties and Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following.

  • Gain insight into the various components necessary to manage a market by assisting with:
    • Communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; developing incentives; planning, monitoring and appraising performance results.
    • Increasing management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers.
    • Developing a climate for collegial exchange of information and opinions; provides educational and professional growth opportunities.
    • Strategic planning by studying technological and financial opportunities; presents assumptions and recommends objectives.
    • Completing or delegating projects with focus on time management, project plan creation, team engagement, and use of project management tools in the spirit of continuous improvement.
    • Accomplishing company objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocates resources, reviews progress, and makes mid-course corrections.
    • Establishing policies and practices for sales, field, and technical services; coordinates actions with corporate, product and marketing colleagues.
    • Building company image by collaborating with customers, community organizations, and employees while enforcing ethical business practices.
    • Maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered.

  • Enrollment in master’s degree program.
  • Successful completion of junior year.
  • Demonstrated interest in general management including learning all components of sales and operations.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter who is able to use critical thinking skills to anticipate needs, creatively solve problems or overcome obstacles.
