General Description of Position:

 

Responsible for Hargray’s audit, tax and credit activities. Will be the lead point of contact with our auditors for the completion of our annual audit, with our tax firm for corporate and partnership tax compliance and tax planning initiatives, and with our outside lenders for financing activities, and quarterly and annual debt compliance.  Subject matter expert in the interpretation of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the implementation of new standards with immediate attention to ASC 606 for revenue recognition and ASC 842 for leases.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 10 years of combined public accounting and private company experience required.
  • 5+ years of work experience in public accounting. Big-4 Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of technical accounting experience.  Experience with the following areas of accounting preferred:  consolidations, lease accounting, revenue recognition, equity-based compensation, M&A transactions, debt modification, impairment assessments, derivatives and post-employment benefits.
  • Ability to manage outside audit, tax and valuation firms in a cost-effective manner.
  • Experience in the cable or telecommunications industry preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in Word and Excel.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits a sense of urgency towards attaining department goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates an interest in continuous improvement and challenging status quo.
  • Self-motivated individual with demonstrated experience and continuous desire in improving and streamlining processes.
