General Description of Position:

Responsible for the effective functioning of critical facilities to provide a reliable and efficient work environment for Hargray’s network electronics and equipment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all facilities energy specifications meet Hargray’s standards, including utility power (both DC and AC), power backup (including UPS’s, Batteries and Generators).
  • Establish that all environmental conditions meet or exceed industry and Hargray standards at each site. Including Air Conditioning, Air Flow, Hot and Cold aisles, Heat Loading and Lighting.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Confirm that each facility has the proper fire suppression and alarm system. Ensuring this system meets all local and national fire code standards.
  • Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee the HVAC systems in the facilities through contracts with heating, ventilation, and electrical vendors.
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections.
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met.
  • Calculate and compare costs for equipment and services to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts to optimize delivery and cost saving.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience in the Data Center type infrastructure
  • Highly motivated and able to carry out diverse tasks with minimal supervision. In-depth knowledge of IP Networking principles.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC theory as it applies to telecommunications.
  • Must have working knowledge in the MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of RUS, Bellcore, SCTC standards and NEC codes as they apply to the installation and repair of telecommunications services.
  • Base knowledge of HVAC systems and their operations
