Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 2 Cost Accountants overseeing areas of responsibility and providing prioritization as needed
  • Review work of direct reports to include journal entries, depreciation calculations, preparation of annual property tax returns, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and other duties as assigned
  • Work closely with Operations and Accounts Payable teams to understand business transactions ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Drive asset management to include overseeing open project listings, ensuring timely closure as in-service, and asset retirement practice
  • Partner with other departments as needed to drive effective asset management
  • Prepare more complex project closure entries
  • Review and record Fixed Asset transactions including additions, disposals, and transfers
  • Standardization of fixed asset accounting processes and tools, promoting best practices within the team
  • Identify process improvement opportunities providing feedback timely and suggest effective and efficient solutions
  • Liaison with Regulatory department providing information requests as needed to support Regulatory reporting and external Cost Studies
  • Liaison with auditors in area of responsibility coordinating support documentation and reviewing for completeness
  • Hire, train, and manage support staff; manage schedules and workflow to meet Company’s goals and objectives
  • Special projects as required including providing historical information and research as needed for capital initiatives


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 Year Business Degree required, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • 5+ years progressive experience in accounting or general ledger roles with exposure to fixed assets required
  • Technically strong with an aptitude for financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Excellent excel and data base skills
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to work with hundreds of lines of data and provide analysis
  • Must have ability to work independently as well as with others, have excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Requires discretion regarding sensitive Company information
  • Available to work overtime as needed
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and high volume of work
  • Telecommunication industry experience preferred
  • Experience with large accounting and reporting systems, Epicor a plus
  • Experience with multi-company operations with inter-company transactions a plus
