Job Description

General Description of Position:

 

Applies principles of accounting to prepare journal entries, accrual entries, adjusting entries, reclasses, balance sheet reconciliations, audit schedules, and prepare expense reports. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepares monthly journal entries. 
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure data integrity and accuracy of monthly reports.
  • Maintains supporting documentation for monthly journal entries and accrual/reserve balances.
  • Performs monthly variance analysis ensuring the accuracy of the financial results.
  • Become proficient in Adaptive Office Connect to ensure accuracy and proper presentation of the department expense report
  • Prepares and maintains support for audit and reconciliation schedules timely and accurately for the interim and annual audit by independent certified public accountants. Provide support for audit schedules to the auditors.
  • Maintains current knowledge of sound accounting procedures and utilizes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Serves as backup for Sr. Cost Accountant to handle the full CAPEX close when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Five-plus years’ experience in General Accounting, General Ledger month-end close, preparation of expense reports, expense account analysis, interim and year-end audit schedules and account reconciliations.
  • Ability to perform detailed variance analysis during month-end close.
  • Experienced with creating new reports in data warehouse and understanding what information to pull. Proficiency with Microsoft Access.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet tight month-end close and expense reporting deadlines with the highest degree of accuracy.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, experience with integrated accounting/reporting systems (AFR, EPICOR ERP10) and integrated financial systems.
  • Requires discretion regarding sensitive company information. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, directors and senior management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with little  direction and great detail for accuracy within tight deadlines
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as with others, have strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Available to work overtime as needed 

 

Additional Qualifications Desired:

 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with different types of people.
  • Knowledge of telecom and/or cable systems
  • Knowledge of Part 32 accounting a plus.
  • Experience with AFR beneficial.
  • Experience with EPICOR ERP10 beneficial.
  • Experience with integrated financial systems beneficial.
