Job Description

 

General Description of Position:

 

Applies principles of accounting to prepare journal entries, accrual entries, and adjusting entries as needed.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Process customer or municipal payments for exclusive marketing agreements, franchise fees, and royalty payments and maintain amortization schedules
  • Generates customer invoices for managed services business
  • Prepares monthly journal entries for managed services business
  • Prepares monthly journal entries for revenue accounting
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts for managed services inventory
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure data integrity and accuracy of monthly reports
  • Maintains supporting documentation for monthly journal entries and accrual/reserve balances
  • Compile Customer Billing Cycles and format for import to Epicor Accounting Software
  • Format monthly excel reports for handoff meetings
  • Compile cycle comparison reports and supporting documentation
  • Generate quarterly customer billing for specialty billing arrangements
  • Provides support to Accountant II positions as needed
  • Maintains current knowledge of sound accounting procedures and utilizes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Three-plus years’ experience in General Accounting, General Ledger month-end close, preparation of revenue reports, revenue account analysis, interim and year-end audit schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet tight month-end close deadlines with the highest degree of accuracy.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, experienced with integrated accounting/reporting systems (FRx, EPICOR) and billing systems a plus.
  • Requires discretion regarding sensitive company information. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, directors and senior management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with little  direction and great detail for accuracy within tight deadlines
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as with others, have strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Available to work overtime as needed 

 

Additional Qualifications Desired:

 

  • Knowledge of telecom and/or cable systems
  • Knowledge of Part 32 accounting a plus.
