General Description of Position

 

The Technical Consultant is responsible for conducting site-assessments for existing and potential SMB/Enterprise customers in effort to identify technology needs, develop detailed implementation plan and future roadmaps. Provide necessary pre-sale support to the direct sales organization to grow and maintain revenues as well as to pull high margin custom applications through the appropriate sales channels.  Also serves as a gateway for market intelligence on changing customer needs in the marketplace, as well as solutions using current, new and emerging technology to accommodate those needs.

 

Duties & Responsibility

 

  • Conduct customer premises site-assessments and create detailed IT road maps. 
  • Identify and design on-prem server requirements, architect cloud migrations, and create Wi-Fi heatmaps.
  • Provides pre-sale engineering support to the sales team for complex, technical and integrated solutions.
  • Works closely with the customer, vendor, operations, while designing, crafting and delivering the best possible solutions.
  • Assists in training initiatives on existing, new and emerging technologies.
  • Communicates market trends, new customer requirements and new technologies to product development and network engineering groups for development of new products and technologies to meet customer needs.
  • Provides assistance in the development of pricing to support solution alternatives
  • Possess a consultative approach to providing customer solutions.
  • Strong experience in developing long-term business relationships with key technical decision makers in business organizations.
  • Calls on and participates in appointments with new and existing customers to discuss technical challenges and/or goals.
  • Works on network and premises designs and crafting solutions based on customer needs and applications.  This would include pricing strategies, technical service assurance.
  • Supports the sales team with technical assistance answering RFP requirements and customer presentations.
  • Works with product development and marketing teams to provide customer focused new services for Hargray.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the Sales Department.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a technical capacity for Managed Services, IT field
  • 3+ years of engineering and technical account management experience
  • Extensive experience of WAN technologies, HaaS, SaaS, VOIP (Hosted Voice), Managed IT services, M365, Disaster Recovery, Endpoint Protection, Virus Protection, Data Backup and recovery, and other hosted service.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of enterprise virtual environments, VM Ware, storage solutions (SAN, NAS, RAID), Wi-Fi technologies, routing protocols, active directory, Terminal Server, SQL, and enterprise applications.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A developing understanding of emerging technologies
  • Possess a consultative approach to providing customer solutions 
  • Project Management ability
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point)
