 General Description of Position:

This is the function of operational support of Data Services (DNS, DHCP), Provisioning Systems, IPAM, EMS, Performance Tools, SDN Controllers. For these systems this colleague will be responsible for Hardware deployments, lifecycle management, performance reporting and run books. This colleague will also focus on maturing operational process with automation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deployment and support of middleware application servers, server virtualization technologies, applications. Administration and management of Operating Systems.
  • Put together and install infrastructure components on networks and servers, ensure that the technical performance aspects in the infrastructure environment including database, and application performance are optimized
  • Manage Service Inventory- establish, manage and administer the enterprise's service inventory within the Service Inventory Database, and monitor and report on the usage and access to the service inventory and the quality of the data maintained in it.
  • Manage environments inclusive of web servers, database servers, VMWare, SAN, and blades, etc. to ensure proper tuning plus capacity.
  • Required to collaborate and participate in activities to make certain there is knowledge improvement and share and integrate programs within the team as well as across the organization as suitable and lead projects and take part in evolving project activities and evaluations.
  • Update hardware required for maintenance of servers, detect system and application issues, and ensure smooth flow of data throughout the ecosystem. Manage the security of computer systems and inter-application information transfers.
  • Ensure optimum uptime for complete network services and servers, establish models to maintain and configure, improve, plan capacity, and deploy for infrastructure engineering projects, and ensure sufficient redundancy.
  • Planning and deployment of service infrastructure, and for ensuring availability of sufficient service infrastructure to support the Service Configuration & Activation processes.
  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions
  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks & completes project on time and within budget.
  • Results are key to successful completion of major projects/programs.
  • Perform operational support for the infrastructure and applications supporting the provisioning and management of our services including platforms such as DNS, DHCP, Content Delivery Networks, and Orchestration Platforms.
  • Responsible for internal applications: IP Management System, Performance Management, Analytic and Correlation Engine, Grafana, and the Switch Interface Tool.
  • Focus on developing automation for processes currently being managed across the operational landscape.
  • Maintain inventory of existing applications, GUIs, and tools used throughout partner organizations within the company and look for opportunities for consolidation and optimization.

  • Develop preventive maintenance standards and schedules and ensure they are implemented accordingly.
  • Utilize DevOps methodology to ensure that internal and 3rd party provided software is deployed in reliable way with little to no customer impact. Maintain dialogue with vendors and internal developers relating to software release cycles, deployments, etc.
  • Verify that all operational measurements and statistics for all service platforms and applications are being monitored and responded to accordingly to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Ensure that all service platforms and applications are backed up according to established policies and procedures and maintains responsibilities for implementing disaster recovery when required.
  • Crosstrain with the Service Operations Infrastructure team to facilitate an on call rotation between the two groups.

  • Leads group of engineers and technicians, responsible for budget and manpower estimates.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of ticketing systems, monitoring and performance systems.
  • Working knowledge of data collection systems
  • Experience with the following Systems
    • Manage Engine
    • Calix CMS
    • Incognito ACS, Address Commander, and DHCP
    • Junos Space
  • Is a SME on multiple platforms and/or systems under specialty and with a detailed understanding of how multiple systems interact. Develops innovative solution to unique problems. Professional abilities & technical accomplishments are recognized throughout the lab and within the professional community in the area of expertise.
  • Works mostly independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provides guidance to group.
  • Work is reviewed infrequently. Outcomes reviewed by organizational management/head.
  • Exercises substantial initiative/judgment in work methods and in interpreting goals.
  • Able to effectively train people outside his/her work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
