General Description of the position

Clearwave Fiber is seeking to fill the position of Senior OSP Capacity Management Engineer, the ideal candidate should be able to work remotely from home but be within a reasonable driving distance from one of Clearwave Fiber offices (Atlanta, Savannah, Macon or Valdosta, Georgia or Marion, Il.). They will report to Clearwave Fiber’s Manager of Planning and Engineering Systems.

The position’s primary objective is to support the management and analysis on scheduled or dynamic basis of our transport (Feeder) fiber capacity including GPON/AE PON’s. This includes identify and implementing updates for new fiber allocations in 3GIS or other related systems, as well as updates to other capacity management spreadsheets. These updates including executing necessary splicing and setting Circuit Names, Status and Customer names where applicable.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Devise GPON/AE – PON capacity relief plans in areas where organic or dynamic growth can occur. This is mainly from OSP side, but also if new HUTs or Cabinets are identified as part of the planning process this position will engage with our Sr. OSP Planner who is principled focused on strategic FTTH build-outs.
  • Analyze fiber utilization for fiber segments on scheduled basis or as directed, determine appropriate or most economical plan for relief including documenting sequence of throws and cutovers.
  • Interact with OSP Design and Network Engineering (ISP) teams to concur fiber terminations, allocations for major FTTH over builds, capacity relief and fiber augmentation projects. Will not be responsible for BAU efforts, these are typically single fiber allocations.
  • Execute fiber connectivity for requirements identified in activates listed above in 3GIS or other like systems.

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with engineering or technology education. Equivalent experience or training may substitute for the education requirement.
  • 10 years - OSP Engineering and/or Planning (with or for a LEC, ILEC or CLEC)
  • Complete and general OSP facilities knowledge, including FTTH (GPON) and Active Ethernet.
  • OSP Fiber Allocation and Splicing best practices.
  • Fiber throw and cutover work steps and best practices.
  • Working in 3GIS fully modeling all Fiber features and connectivity.
  • Oral and written communications of plans or needs with others in Clearwave Fiber (See Interactions)
  • Works with at end-user level MS-Office products (Excel, Power Point and Word) and environments.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills through working with x-departmental departments daily
  • Clearwave Fiber will provide PC equipment to adequately perform this job remotely, candidate if working remotely will be responsible for adequate internet connection (10Mb/10Mb).
