The Director of Marketing and Community Relations is responsible for directing all facets of external communications to help tell our story. Additionally, this position is responsible for setting strategy and executing PR plan including agency management and media relations and outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following.

  • Formulates a first-in- class PR program encompassing traditional and social media, editorial content, earned speaking events and awards for the company and its products.
  • Develops media strategy documents, goals, media targets and pitch angles.
  • Responds and serve as primary spokesperson for media inquiries.
  • Approves press releases and Web content produced by staff and contractors.
  • Drafts correspondence and media messages to meet outreach needs; manage press releases for senior management.
  • Increases thought leadership through outreach across all press outlets.
  • Anticipates needs, offers new ideas and proactively addresses challenges.
  • Thinks multi-dimensionally to amplify the result of media across all digital and social channels and works cross-functionally to transform media coverage to lead generation.
  • Works with senior management and other internal thought leaders to create compelling thought leadership narratives to build the company’s profile.
  • Has a sense of urgency to be first to market with a coordinated rapid response process for breaking news and research.
  • Supports sales leaders to the successful achievement of their annual goals and ensures sales activities and incentives are aligned to PR strategy.
  • Translates long and short-term strategies into specific PR activities and approaches.
  • Analyzes and interprets strategies and outcomes and takes appropriate action.
  • Ensures completion of market analysis and monitors competitive activity.
  • Builds strong working partnerships and collaborates with cross-functional teams.
  • Responsible for identifying needs, requesting support and collaborating with support functions.
  • Develops and maintains budget.
  • Crafts and executes promotional programs (including advertising, professional education, conventions and digital) and assess promotional effectiveness. Works with external agencies and cross functional groups within the organization.
  • Leads and inspires the development, recommendation, and implementation of strategies that drive the business.
  • Determines brand–advertising strategies.
  • Provides leadership and collaborates across the organization in the pursuit of business objectives with key partners.
  • Trains and coaches employees to achieve high performance; measures employee performance against goals and makes appropriate employment decisions.
  • Creates strategies to ensure employee engagement and optimizes employee performance.
  • Communicates company and departmental performance, policy, and all other information to direct reports, employees, and management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in PR with proven track record in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to persuade others, articulate a point of view, and set direction.
  • Effective prioritization, implementation and monitoring of company’s goals and objectives.
  • High level problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Strategic thinker who excels at coming up with original ideas and is able to execute.
  • Ability to proactively identify communications opportunities and develop supporting programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Capable of leading the design and implementation of employee training and development.
  • Proficient use of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other graphics and/or presentation software.
